Black & Veatch is making its move into the Overland Park Xchange building.
On Monday, the Overland Park-based engineering firm announced that it has begun moving telecommunications and special projects employees into 175,000 square feet of leased space in the office complex at 6800 W. 115th St. in Overland Park. The 655,000-square-foot facility formerly known as the Overland Park International Trade Center, is undergoing a $25 million construction project aimed at converting it into Class A space.
Once Black & Veatch moves in, it and current tenant OptumRX, a unit of UnitedHealth Group Inc. that leases 313,000 square feet, will occupy 75 percent of the building. The Kansas City Business Journal previously reported that Occidental Management Inc. is working on leasing the remaining space. If demand for space is great enough, the Wichita-based developer may build a 51,000-square-foot addition on the northeast corner.
